7BR cast load info?

I have alot of RCBS 145 cast bullets, and am looking for a good Big Bore load. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm using that bullet in my XP 7BR. My load is 19gr of SR-4759. Works well for me so far.

That's a great bullet. I use 29.5 grains of N-140 in my 10" MOA. I shot my first 40 years ago with that gun/load.

I can't find any data for N140 for the 7TCU even on the Vihtavuori website. What velocity are you getting with that load?

Sorry Charlie, I should have been a bit more clear. It is a 7BR. I am getting approximately 1750 FPS.

I use that bullet in my 7TCU for US. In my 7BR cast load I used to use that bullet but switched to the Saeco 160TC. Both shot well but I opted for the slightly heavier Saeco bullet. For the Saeco I use 26.0gr AA2015. I think I used that same load with the 145SIL also but it might have been AA2460.

I got that load from a couple of other long timne shooters. Bother suggested from 19-20gr of SR4759. I used 19 and have never chronoed the load but it is easy to handle. Hot hot at all.

I used 20.0 gr of 4759 under a 140 gr jacketed bullet. Shot a 40x40 in half scale with it first time out.

I don't mean to hijack this thread. But, What about gas checks through a muzzle break? Are there any concerns with checks sticking in break? I am considering buying a 7mm mold for my XP.

Generally speaking cast bullet and muzzle breaks do not go well together. As far as the gas check being a factor I dont think this is the issue. The biggest issue is when the cast bullet enters the break chamber the powder gases start to blow by the bullet. This can cause some vaporization of the lead which could lead to accuracy issues along with lead deposits around the holes in the break. The reason I say generally speaking is that usually when you use a break is used it is to tame recoil (ie; heavier recoiling loads). I have a muzzle tamer break on my US 7TCU. I had it installed to initially tame recoil with Jacketed bullets. I now shoot a cast bullet load that is such a puppy dawg that I have not had any issues with the break fowling. I think for the most part it is because I think all the powder is burned in the barrel. The break is not as effective in reducing recoil as there is only a slight noticible difference in recoil between mine and a friends that does not have a break.
