A Call For Authors & Contributors

Over the years many of you have submitted stories to IHMSA News and other web sites such as Specialty Pistols. My goal with this web site is to gather as much of that relevant information and many, many years of experience in one central place. It is through sharing these experiences that we can all grow as shooters, and as friends.


To that end I am hereby asking for people that have anything to share to do so now.

You do not need to have 20 years experience and be an International class shooter in every event (but, Dean, you are invited as well). A new shooter that wants to tell his or her story about how they were introduced to IHMSA and their progress thus far can be of incredible value to others. So can the shooter that was "there from the beginning". Anyone that participates in IHMSA has a story to tell, so here are the three ways I have set up so far to do this:

The Discussion Forum Section:
We are all familiar with this part of the web site - as many web sites have them. This is the place to ask a quick question, answer one or discuss some various topic. This is our "Group Participation" section and will always be the heart of the site. If you are the kind of person that has an occasional comment or question, or prefers to simply hang back and answer other shooter's questions, this is the place for you. If you can offer more though, consider one of the following...

BLOG (Web Log) Section:
In the BLOG area separate sections can be created where a person (or organization) has a dedicated area to contribute stories or updates on a regular basis. We have all seen BLOGs on the Internet, though many may not be familiar with the term. One of the most popular BLOG sites is Wordpress where there are thousands of BLOGs if you want to browse through and get a feel for what they are about. Essentially they amount to an on going story or collection of thoughts from a single point of view. This is ideal for individual ranges that want to post information (including uploaded files, pictures, videos, etc.) about matches or other events. It is also a great place for new and experienced shooters alike to share their ongoing experiences with shooting and IHMSA.

Contribute an Article for the News Section:
The main page of this website has various news articles. These are in all different categories - most of mine being under the Website News section. If you have something to contribute more on a one-time or infrequent basis, or a longer topic than a simple BLOG entry, this is the place. Plans and directions to build a range pistol box? A 10 page account of how you became and International Class shooter? A write up of what it takes to be a Match Director? Any relevant article can be posted, and include pictures, videos, attached files, etc.

If you would like to contribute as either a BLOG owner and just submit articles (even things that may have been published elsewhere or many times) than simply let me know and I will set you up. This is a simply process that takes only moments. Once you are set up, the tools to submit an Article or write a daily or weekly BLOG entry are very similar to posting int eh forum - so no experience or technical skills are required. As out Moderators gain more experience with the software they will be there to assist you, as will I.
