Thread: .30 Herrett

    Default .30 Herrett

Does any one have some good loads for the .30 Herrett. I had one way back in the early 80's. Sold it shortly after the 7T/CU came out. I just picked one up. A lot of newer poiwders are available today. I did not save any of my old info on this caliber.
    Thanks

This is what I've been using in my 30 Herrett MOA. 25.0 grs. of VV N133, Sierra 150s, and 24.5 grs. of VV N133, 165 Sierras or 168 MKs. Not real fast, but super accurate.

My 10 3/4" t/c barrel likes 150 sierra's over 24.5 gr. of IMR 4198 I think Hornady book list 150's over IMR 4198 as a Ram load in the part where that tell the 30 Herrett story . I haven't shot a silh. match with it. Maybe I'll get a mould for it and see what it can do. That load I listed will drop a deer in it's tracks.

I've shot a lot of silhouettes with the 30 Herrett. The original 10" wasn't the best but the current 14" is superb. Many 40s a few 60X60s and an 80X80. I shoot the 125gr Sierra over 29.5 of Norma 200 (2261 fps) OR 29.8 of Vitivori N130( 2227 fps). Either gives great accuracy and close to 100% case fill. Now that Sierra has come up with the 135gr Matchkings it should be even better!
