Thread: Rear sight replacement forces category change?

Default Rear sight replacement forces category change?

I used to shoot steel in the early 80's in high school with a pair of Dan Wesson revolvers, a .22 and a .44 mag.

Now I'm getting back into it and pull my guns out of storage and find, among other things, the rear sight on the .22 is damaged and needs to be replaced.

If I replace this with a Millet blade sight, which is as close to the original factory sight as I can find, can I still shoot production category? What options, if any, do I have with sights and still be shooting production?

For some masochistic reason, shooting targets at long ranges, standing, with a revolver and iron sights appeals to me as something "pure" lol.

The way I read the rules as long as the after market sight is a manufactors catalog item / no modification to gun or sight it's still Prod.
