Just received a MGM 14in 300-221 1in 8 twist contender barrel. I have some 220 gr cast gas checked bullets that I want to try. Looking for recomendations on power to try.
Also with the 1 in 8 twist do you think it will shoot 125gr sierra`s fast enough for hunting?

I don't know anything about shooting cast in the thing but have loaded quite a bit with jackets from 110gr up to 200gr. Yes a 125 can be loaded plenty fast for hunting.

What would you recommend for jacket bullets?

Jacketed bullets for what? Hunting? Don't know never huted with mine but I would wager a good guess the 125 BT Nosler would be a good one for small whitetails. For IHMSA 168-190 Sierra Match Kings or Nosler Custom Comps, Hornady is fine too. All the major bullet makers bullets are fine you just need to decide how much you want to spend and what you intend to do with them. It will shoot 200grainers great too if you really want to spend the dough.

AA#9 is the powder I like, with IMR4227 following a close second.
