I made the trip up to Lincolnton this weekend to shoot with Robert and Melvin, and wanted to share some information concerning hotels in nearby Thomson GA. When I attended the 1999 Regionals in Lincolnton I stayed in Washington GA. There is a Jameson Inn there, but not many dining choices. Thomson is a bit further from the range (20 miles), but has MUCH more to offer as to lodging and dining choices. When I look for a place to stay when attending a match, I look for a place with outside entry, because of all of the "stuff" we have to haul into and out of the room every day. In Thomson - the hotels with outside entry are a Best Western and Econolodge. The Holiday Inn Express appears to have inside entry. Also, the Econolodge appears to be brand-new - so this may be a plus. There are also many food choices very close to the hotels, including the typical "chains"; McDonald's, etc. If you are looking for "cheap" - there is a Scottish Inns with rooms for about $50 per night. It looked OK, but proceed with the usual caution. I think that I may look at either the Econolodge or the Best Western come Labor Day weekend. I thought that this info might be helpful to those thinking about attending - and I hope to see you there !! -- Philip Braud
