    Default "Shooting Steel" book

I just saw this book in one of the revolver pics on this site, and I want a copy. Cannot find a copy to save my life! Can anyone steer me to one? Thanks-

Here you go! BTW, there are 2 different books that Elgin did.

    Steve,

Shooting Steel was not one Elgin's books. It is a compilation of the first ten years of "The Silhouette" and was published in 1986. I have all three and all are good. Lucked into the second of Elgin's books at a gunshow but found Elgin's first book and Shooting Steel over the Internet a decade ago. Had to bid on Ebay to get Shooting Steel but did win the auction. I use Shooting Steel as it still has good loading data and as it contains the basis for my development of heavy bullet loads for the .221 Fireball.

My only suggestion to find Shooting Steel is to check out gun shows and shop hard on the Internet.

Thanks for reminding me about this one!

I remember getting it circa 86-87. Amazingly enough I didnt follow through & start shooting steel.

I just ordered it from Amazon though & am looking forward to it getting here.

You found a seller on Amazon who has it? That's some darn good luck right there, I had to comb the internet for months for mine. Finally stumbled on an Ebay auction & was fortunate enough to be able to grab it.
It's definitely a good book to have!

I scored one from a gun show a few weeks back... I've been reading and re-reading it ever since. Lots of good info in there!

Got mine 2 days ago. Allot of great info in there & its fun to see the 70's & 80's styles.

One line in the book cracked me up, it was talking about the MOA not doing well on sales because of its high price of $400. How I wish

I grabbed a copy from EBay last year. It's great being able to read about the sport as it was being developed into what it is today. I've also been able to pick up the odd IHMSA related badges and patches from EBay. They don't come up all that often though, just have to keep looking.

Larry Hixson obtained one each of all three of Elgin's books on silhouette shooting. They will be in the West Coast Championship raffle. Come shoot with us & buy a ticket. You might win three great books for your library!

I have all of them also. I will add that if you use the data that is listed to ease into it and cross it with up to date data. Powders have changed a fair bit from then until today.
Yes, todays data has been lawyer proofed, before any one says anything. But, i have had some pressure issues with some of this data in different cases.
