Default May Match at Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville, GA

Another great turnout this month. We had 56 entries shot. It was Ron Dixon's birthday as well! Nothing better than spending your birthday burning powder and ringing steel.
Melvin Calliham posted a 40 in SB Production and Unlimited and a 38 in SB Revolver for 3-gun agg of 118! Great shooting Melvin! He is going to make Regionals a tough row to hoe for some of our guests.
I was able to post up a respectable 61-agg in FP while earning my INT classification in FP-P. I also earned the INT classification in SB UAS with my second 40 with the Charger. Jim Good, Kesha Fussel and Don Akridge also posted 40s in UAS. I got there early and helped set up, so by the time they got around to shooting Shoot-offs, I was beat, so I bowed out and headed for home. Kesha was able to out-shoot Jim and Don to take the UAS honors. She also was able to out-duel Mark Thrailkill for the Unlimited honors. Oustanding shooting Kesha!
All in all we had 6 Match Legs shot and also had 7 classification entries shot. If we keep having the turnouts that we are getting, Ron is going to have to consider going to 2-day matches.
Also, during lunch we finalized the T-Shirt colors for the Regionals. They are going to be teal with hot pink lettering. It actually looks pretty good. The cost will be $12 each if we can get an order of 75, so if you haven't contacted Randy Fussel yet, please do so. We will also get hats if we can get an order of at least 24. Slots are filling up quick for Regionals, so I would suggest contacting Randy soon.
If you want to take a look at the final results, here is the link.

Remember, because the Regionals are Memorial Day weekend, we will not have a June match at Cherokee. Hope to see many of you at the end of the month!

Mike, you really missed out on two great shoot-offs. Kesha could have shot flashlight bulbs and won... She was on fire!

To anyone and everyone who shot at the May Gainesville match, thank you. Thank you so very much for accepting my brother in law as much as you did. He said that he really enjoyed himself. I found out later that he might have been a little uncomfortable, but still had a good time. With as many as 15 people on the line at one time (most of the time actually, as it was REALLY hard squeezing into the next relay), and people on the HP Rifle range behind us, and people with automatic weapons to the right of us, and other guns going off all around us, he said it reminded him of some of the fire fights he was in in 'Nam... (oops Chuck, I had NO idea...) but he pulled through and you guys had him moving and going. I was showing him the course of fire for field pistol, and I turn around and he's gone... Someone borrowed him to help figure out where their new scope was hitting... LOL I don't think he got to watch me complete a whole course of fire the entire day (and I shot 3 guns!). He couldn't believe that a .38 Special (the Club Gun) could be that accurate out to 100 yds. When I finished my last round, I saw that he was beat (and I knew I was...) Ron (HAPPY BIRTHDAY RON!!) decided to start the shoot-offs. I knew that Chuck had to see that (long story for next time...) so I packed the stuff up to the truck while everyone got ready for the showdown. Up first were Kesha and Mark. Ron was nice for the Production guns... Five 1/5 scale Rams at 100yds... Before the first hammer fell, Chuck said "Wow". I don't remember the exact scores, but as you already know, Kesha walked away triumphant. Then Ron walked down to the Ram line again. When he returned there were a handful of 1/5 scale targets waiting for them. 1 Ram, 1 chicken, 1 pig, and 2 more chickens... Diabolical I tell you. Now, if you've never seen it before...a 1/5 scale chicken at 100yds, looks like a flake of pepper on a piece of chicken. It stands out, but there's no shape to it. Chuck is wondering where the targets are... Once I explained what they were shooting at, he could pick them out. First round of five left both Kesha and Jim empty handed. Ron thanked each of the competitors for being so kind to him on his birthday, but really didn't mind resetting the targets... So on to round 2... Kesha and Jim take the first 2 targets and miss the third. Then Kesha hits and Jim misses the fourth. Jim had been shooting slightly ahead of Kesha, so it was kind of a shock when Kesha's hammer fell first on the 5th target before his. I was able to see Kesha's speck of pepper flying through the air sealing the victory. Great match! Chuck was amazed. It completely changed his mindset towards handguns. We'll see him again...He wants some practice first, but he'll be back.

As I cannot edit my original thread, this line:

Melvin Calliham posted a 40 in SB Production and Unlimited and a 38 in SB Revolver for 3-gun agg of 118!

    Should actually read as follows:

Melvin Calliham posted a 40 in SB Production and Unlimited and a 38 in SB Revolver for 3-gun TOTAL of 118!
