Angry Attention Match Directors - Please Read!!

Match Directors using Orchid Software IHMSA Match Program: The printer of the IHMSA News recently purchased a new computer and cannot open Microsoft Word documents saved as .rtf files. You will need to convert your match reports to .doc files to ensure they are properly published.

I just found this out this weekend from Lorene at HQ as my match reports were not being properly published the last 2 months.

Ditto on that. I haven't gotten a match report published for 4 months. I talked to Lorene the other day and she explained to me the same thing Steve is saying. The Orchid software saves them as a .rtf file.
Steve, is it as simple as re-naming the file in the match software or do you have to do a save as and put it in a different folder? I told Lorene that it seems to me if we are using a printing service that this business should be able to read all types of file formats and if they can't then we should find someone who can.

    Bret,

The software allows only .rtf. You'll have to save it then rename it.

    Steve,

I think there is more to the situation than just renaming the file in Windows. Renaming a file in Windows does not change the format. You most likely will have to start Word, open the .rtf (rich text format) file then use the Save As command and select the .doc format. If you are using a newer version of Word you have to be careful and select .doc and not the .docx format.

It seems odd that the printer can read the .doc files and not .rtf. Both are Microsoft formats.

It sure would have been nice if somewhere along the line even the smallest amount of feedback had been provided to the match directors instead of just letting the reports drop off into oblivion!

Maybe the match directors can get a refund on sanction fees.

Doug you are correct & that is the procedure I used. I guess I did not explain it very well. As far as a refund of sanction fees, I'd prefer to have my match report published & I just keep sending them in until they are. I was disappointed to see that the wrong match report (not Oregon State AIR Championship) was published on the front page of the May issue. They will publish the correct one next month but probably not with the photo. We'll see.
