    Default Larry Harris

It is with deep regret and sorrow that I bear the sad news that Larry, a long time IHMSA shooter and friend, was called to the line for the last time this morning.

The recent bout with cancer that Larry told many of you about has taken him from us. He died in his sleep early this morning at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

It seems that once the cancer attached itself to his liver, it stopped the liver function very quickly and his death came much, much faster than any of us could imagine. If there is solace in that, it is that to the end, Larry indicated that he was not in any pain, and what could have been a long drawn out process...wasn't. If you knew Larry well, you knew that he was a full speed ahead kind of guy, and that's the way he left us.

I was saddened to receive that e-mail this morning. While Larry & I have not shot together since 2002 as we are now in OR & 2002 was the last International I attended, we kept in touch. I will miss him.

My best memory of Larry was the silhouette match at Logan Handgun Association on August 22, 1998. I shot my first 40 that day using a Production MOA & cast bullets. After I finished and came off the line, Larry came up to me and said that he had watched me through the turkeys & rams through his scope. I was all over the turkeys, and he said he considered spotting for me as I did not have one. But, he thought better of it and decided to leave me alone as the targets were going down.

We had quite a chuckle over the fact that my hits were all over the place but I did manage a 40 out of it.

    I will miss him.

If I ever get back to the Intls it won't be the same without him. He was a fun guy that I considered a friend. I'm shocked, what else can I say.
