Thanks again for the updates. Seems the world is better represented than "U.S.".

Hey thanks again for the updates. Great pics again. Question I have about the guy with the leather leg shield shooting the revolver. How legal is that, he's got a damn extra piece sewn on to hold the barrel. Doesn't seem legal to me. Some guys are pushing the rules and getting away with it. Just my 2 cents worth.

I looked thru the pics again and seems those 2 of the revolver shooter have been removed.HMM.

Yes, I made the same observation. If I were there, and competing in Revolver class - I would have had a range officer call him on it. And, if he continued - I would have filed an official protest. But, that is just me !! I witnessed an obvious violation of the artifical rest rule in Fort Stockton many years ago by a officer of IHMSA. My comments were met with the attitude ------- "OH WELL !" I do not advocate immediate disqualifications at matches like this - but I do think that the rules should be enforced.

I didn't see the two pics you guys are talking about but if you look in photo #28 there is a guy in the next lane with what is described as a "leather leg with an extra piece sewn on to hold the barrel".

Again, I didn't see the first pics, but in #28 I don't see the shooter doing anything wrong IMHO. The extra piece appears to give more protection against muzzle blast. I would agree wholeheartedly if the shooter was placing the barrel in the crook of where the patch starts with the rest of the piece, but he doesn't.

    Again, JMHO...

Jay removed the pics - he did not mean to post them. In the 2 pictures mentioned, the barrel is clearly supported by the "additional" leather. No doubt in my mind ! And, as I said previously - I would not have favored anything like disqualification - but the line officers should have informed him that he was in violation of the rules, and advised him to move his blast shield. A officer was notified of this, was shown the pictures, and did nothing ! This bothers me more than the rule infraction ! And if you wanted to get even more technical - the pictures show that he was VERY close to violating the 45 degree "cone" of the muzzle !

My dad is there shooting for the week and I was telling him about said pictures. He has told me the fellow was from Brazil and he withdrew his scores. So someone must have told him about it. Maybe he didn't know but at least he did the right thing , in my opinion anyway. Also dad has said that there are quit a few people stretching the rules (aka cheating).Using cowboy boots and resting barrels on top ridge and folded and creased leg guards etc. I don't no why the line officers aren't seeing this ? seems unfair and it's hard to believe some people will brag of good scores while breaking rules. I'm upset I couldn't make it to shoot especially with dad.but i think if I have seen this cheating going on I would be a little ticked.

Not trying to start anything here but it is my observation from actually having been a line and tower officer at the Internationals for 10-15 hours per match for the past several years.
Line officers are volunteer, not trianed and very busy. They spend most of their time supervising 10-15 shooters at a time with safety being the most important thing. In between banks, people are shoving scorecards at them for signatures, in addition to signing guns on and off the line. There is not much if any time to observe peoples technique, leg guards, shooting style or look for violations in general.

But, Hey, if someone wants to step up to patrol the entire Internationals firing line for 10 hours per day for 7 days looking for any form of cheating, I will gladly help you get trained up on the rules.

This is in no way meant to endorse or encourage cheating or even fudging. I would rather bury a cheater 6 feet deep in the sand than look at them. I work hard to be a decent shooter and can't stand the thought of someone beating me by taking the easy way. BUT please don't put all of the burden on the line officer. Spend some time on the line and then see how you feel about being everyone's mommy.
