Default Site drops logged on user

Has anyone had this problem? It has happened to me 2-3 times now. I'm a registered user, I log onto the site, and sometime during the time I'm reading posts etc. I'm dropped. It just happened a few minutes ago. I was writting a post and when I hit the submit button I was told I needed to log on (which I had been).

The site, like most sites, uses a web term known as a cookie to keep you signed in. This is a small file that is copied to your computer in your Temporary Internet Files - along with probably 1,000 or more others from other sites. There are 3 possibilities:

    1) Something is wrong with the site. The software is new, so I am not ruling that out. I will say that I have been logged in on my iPhone and two different computers as three different users for weeks and have not had this happen once. That doesn't mean it isn't happening to others.

    2) You have a security program on your computer (anti Virus, web filtering) that is deleting the cookie (very common at high security levels) or you are at a location behind a firewall that performs web filtering that may not be maintaining your connection.

    3) You use one of the very few ISP's out there that still use what are known as NAT pools - meaning each time you go to a new page on the web site you may be coming from a different public IP address. America Online is the biggest one that does this.

Let me know (probably through a PM) what your setup is - where you are connecting (home, public location, office), what operating system/browser, etc. and I will see if I can help. So far you are the only one to report this - but we still are just getting rolling.

    Thanks for letting me know,

Today I can explain...I was making some changes to the site. When I do that I have to rebuild the database. This will log you out. That may be what was happening to pwrmanager as well Once I get closer to having this thing finished that will happen less and less. Keep me posted though, just in case it is something else.

I have updated the software. I also tweaked some of the settings. Each time you login your "session" is active as long as you are clicking something. Previously if you clicked nothing for 1200 seconds (20 minutes) the session ended. This could be what you were experiencing. I have changed this to 3600 seconds (1 Hour). This timeout is if you do not click anything to change pages, submit a posting, etc. So if you chose NOT to click the Remember Me button on the top, and you start to post - then go get coffee and come back over an hour later, you will most likely be logged off. If you still have an issue that does not sound like this - PLEASE let me know. This is all I can locate so far that may have caused this - other than when I was updating other settings in the background.
