Bought this grip and find it makes it nearly impossible to open the action on my older Contender. Thought I might try a Dremel to relieve some of the rubber just behind the trigger guard. Is there a better way?

Bill - do you use it for IHMSA? If so, what categories?

Burm: With a 14-inch scoped barrel, I guess it is unlimited any sight production, right? I'm hoping to try again at silhouette this spring.
Bill - OK, no issues. While I do not want to start anything, many would tell you that if you had to modify the grip, you could not use it in a production class. That is not an issue for you.

Thanks for your concern Berm, as I am new to the rules. Just want to get the dang pistol open and closed without too much strain and cussing ...

Bill,
Is it the Pachmayr grip that is causing the issue. Does it open easier with one of the rynite or wood grips? Just wondering if it is an easy open frame or one of the early ones prior to the modification. Like Bermkiller said, as long as it is used in an unlimited catagory you are fine modifying the grip. If you slap a 10" barrel on it for a production catagory then technically it is not allowed. I have pachmayr's on my production gun and dont find it any more difficult to open.

Bret: It's an earlier hard-to-open frame. The Pachy seems to make it nearly impossible, and it is the only grip I have on hand. Will have to get a TC grip to tell the difference.

If you send it to TC they will modify to the easy open but I think they charge for this modification. You might try a TC rynite grip. Thinking about it the rubber behind the trigger guard does act like a bumper oh the tang which just adds a little more resistance right at the point the action releases to open. Not as noticable on an easy open frame.
