Default 2010 West Coast Championship - Grants Pass, Oregon

Smokin7mm suggested I repost my original here; so here goes Bret!

2010 marks the tenth anniversary of the West Coast Championship. Where did the time go? Dates are June 15-19. We shoot every IHMSA discipline from AIR to Fifth & Half Scale. Camping (full hookups to dry) is available. We are marking this special tenth anniversary match by giving each shooter a hard enamel commemorative pin. If you have attended in the past you will automatically receive an entry packet. PM or e-mail me if you are a new to the West Coast shooter and would like to attend.

For people thinking about it but not sure: You'll not want to miss jetboating on the wild & scenic Rogue River (event coordinated by Knifehandler), Bret & Steve's combination fish fry & beer feast with Dave's pepper poppers, the pot luck dinners, & general BS & gab feasts at the campgrounds. If you desire BS, food, booze (after shooting only) scenic environment, natural wonders, wineries, great restaurants all coupled with very competitive shooting, you have to be at the WCC this year! All are

    Thanks Steve,
Everyone this is a gotta do event. If you have never attended one before come check it out. Good shooting, good friends, good food. Steve and company put on one of the best matches I have ever attended.

To all those that have attended in the past I receintly picked up a new fermenter so now I can make beer in 10 gallon batches instead of 5. Hope to bring four 5 gallon kegs this year seeings how we ran out early last year. So far on tap will be an Alaskan Amber and a honey wheat weizen. Not exactly sure what fish will be on the menu this year (depends on what Steve and I catch) Probably salmon and sea bass (rock fish) and probably some halibut thrown in for good measure. To those considering attending, how can you pass up all this fun.

It sure sounds like a great time will be had by all!

If you think shooting steel is addictive, just go to this match! I didn't know about the first one, but I didn't miss the second or any after that. Great people, great food and great times! And as Steve (19Turkeys) noted, I try to get as many people as I can to go on the jet boat ride. I think last year we had 27 shooters and friends on the ride. All the food you can eat, plus all the beer, wine, tea, soda or water you can drink. What's not to like about that! I'd love to add some more shooters to the boat ride. If any one is thinking about going to the match and think they might like to join us on the boat ride, drop me a line and I'll add you to the list. Here's the site for the ride. We go on the 4 hour dinner ride. http://hellgate.com/

I forgot to mention that Silver Ridge Outfitters will be catering both the lunches & Friday night banquet by the pond at the range again this year. They told me this event was one of the most fun gigs they do all year and they are really looking forward to coming back.

I've only been to one West Coast Championship, but it was the best match I've been to. I'm hoping to make it again this year.

Menu confirmation update. OK, One item on the menu for the Fish feast will be the highly prized spring Chinook. Steve and I had some success this past weekend so we will be bringing down a couple of fillets for your enjoyment. My gain is your gain so to speak. We hope to get up to Neah bay this spring also for some sea bass (rock cod) fishing as well as some halibut to add to the menu. I also made a trip to the beer supply store and have the makings for 10 gallons of alaskan amber style and 10 gallons of honey wheat weizen.

My mouth is watering already! Range Maintenance Update: I hired a friend of mine with some heavy equipment to take 8 inches off the 100 yard berm. You can now see the whole Half Scale turkey targets as well as the top of the 150 yard berm. Target definition should be excellent this year!

    Fellow Shooters,

The 2010 WCC registration forms will go in the mail tomorrow. I recommend that high volume shooters & motor home campers register early. Given the interest in this, the Tenth Anniversary Match, I expect we will see record attendance.

One note, the cover letter states that the rules of the match are enclosed. I did not do that this year as I noticed 2 errors that have to be hand corrected. The rules will be included in your shooter registration packet.

The most significant change in the running of the match will be that all Unlimited and Unlimited Any Sight 60x60 scores must shoot at 5 shoot-off targets the day the 60 is fired. We are adding Unlimited this year by request of several shooters. This should shorten the shoot-offs substantially.

If you do not receive your packet in a reasonable period of time or know someone that didn't please let me know.

We are looking forward to having everyone here. Please e-mail or call me if you have questions.

Thanks for your support. We could not do this without you.

Thanks to Joe Cullison for refurbishing our Big Bore rams. We test drove them today and with leveled stands we had zero blow over and zero rung rams. Darn, there goes about 3 excuses for lousy scores at the WCC!

The first 10 gallon batch of home brew went into the fermenter this past weekend (alaskan Amber). Once that one is done the Honey wheat wiezen will be up. So far so good.

    Thumbs up WCC Raffle

I just received a phone call from Kevin Baker, one of our JCSA shooters and an expert painter of gun stocks. He is donating two gun stock paint jobs for a raffle. The first winner will receive a marble paint job in his/her choice of any two colors Kevin has in stock. That is a $175 value. The second prize winner will receive a one color paint job in his/her choice of colors that Kevin has in stock. That is a $125 value. You can see Kevin's work at http://www.refinishit.net/.

I have also been informed that Mike Dewey is donating one of his XP triggers & linkage and Larry Hixson obtained both of Elgin Gates' silhouette shooting books at a gun show in UT from Randy Gates and an Allen Contender/Striker gun case. He says it will hold 4 Production & one Unlimited handgun. These will be awarded as a third, fourth, and fifth prize. Sixth and seventh prizes are a Leupold shooting cap.

Tickets can be purchased at the match and are $5 each or 5 for $20. The money will support future range improvements.

Kevin will also take orders for paint jobs so bring those beat up old stocks. He also does other items such as helmets and guitars. Again, check his website.

Thanks to Kevin, Mike, Larry and Leupold!

    Thumbs up Another Raffle Prize

I received this e-mail from Scott Mann. LASC would like to donate a free weekends entry at the 2010 LASC Extravaganza as a prize. This would include all the shooting and the two BBQ dinners.

Thanks to Scott & all the guys/gals from LASC!

New raffle prizes were added tonight (4/30). Dave Pitt is donating a $350 custom knife, a shooting box and a right or left handed (depended on the winner's needs) Pistol Packaging holster/bandoleer for a 10 or 12 inch Contender. Thanks Dave!

    Another update.
Got back from Neah Bay this past weekend and did pretty well on the rock fish so we now have: Salmon, ling cod, rock fish and may even throw in some halibut to the mix. Hope everybody is hungry cause there should be plenty of fish. The beer is in carbination aging. Now I just need to finish the gun cleaning and reloading.

Steve P. and I have put on this fish feed/beerfest for (I don't remember) several years and it has gotten better and better each year with all the side dishes people have brought. Dave's stuffed jalepeno poppers, salads, chips etc. Larry, the Shrimp sauteed in black bean sauce sounds tasty. Thanks to all who help support this dinner. Lets see if we can exceed last years attendance. I think we had around 50 last year.

    Talking Major WCC News!

One of my advertising tactics for the WCC is to have the event posted on Jim Shepherd's Internet news services, Shooting Wire & Outdoor Wire. As a result of this, I received an e-mail from a company that produces shooting shows for syndication, American Trigger Sports Network. http://www.atsn.tv

I am working out the details now, but it looks like they will be sending two camera crews to film the complete five day event including the Friday night banquet at the pond.

I am truly excited about this opportunity to promote IHMSA!

Sounds great Steve, but I draw the line at wearing makeup. LOL It seems that every year you're busting your tail promoting the WCC and IHMSA and I thank you for it. It's a great match and I look forward to it each year.
