Take a look at the tab button above...there is now a Photo Gallery!
This is an entirely separate piece of software that had to be integrated into the main system so it is all based on the same usernames and passwords! It *should* work flawlessly at this point...
A few things to remember when you upload photos:
1) Note that the Member Photo Galleries / Personal Galleries are not really their own stand alone area. Instead these sections are all of the same images uploaded to the other categories, but they are arranged by individual Member. So if you want to see every picture a certain person has uploaded, go here!
2) There are no size limits per say. Keep in mind that not everyone has a fast Internet connection or huge monitor. (Ya, I sit in front of two Apple 30" monitors side by side...I think everyone needs that setup!) While I have configured the system to create thumbnails, and medium pictures, users can still click to get the full size image. I ask that you keep images at or under 2560x1600 resolution. So if you just bought that new 10 Mega Pixel camera for Christmas, please do not upload a raw format image! There are many free tools to resize your images - Google "Image resizer" for countless free tools both online and to install on your own computer. Also note that when you click the "Select Files for Upload" button you can choose 1 or MORE images to upload at one time. Once uploaded you can edit the titles and descriptions on each individual image. It makes more sense once you try it...
3) Be descriptive. I understand that not everyone is as verbose as I am, but adding clear titles, descriptions and keywords will help users find your pictures both in the web site Search tools as well as search engines like Google. Please try to have unique titles and descriptions for each image. Yes, it's a little more effort - but when it's YOUR turn to search for that oddball picture of a sight blackener you will appreciate that title and description someone used - allowing the Search to pull it right up - instead of just PICTURE001, PICTURE002, etc.
4) Photos Versus Albums: You can upload individual pictures, or groups of pictures, to any category. These will all show up unsorted and mixed in with everyone else's photos in the same category. This works great if you are just putting up one picture in that section. However, if you are going to upload several pictures that are related - like several of a particular firearm or range, then PLEASE create an Album and add them all to that album. This makes it much easier for members to find all of the pictures that are related.
5) Please Use Responsibly: The gallery system was purchased and installed so that all members make use of it. I hope that there will be thousands of pictures here one day. Everyone has a camera/camera phone and let's face it, you are all hams. Show off your guns, your ranges, your truck, your dog, your family, your church, your buck - whatever! Just keep in mind that IHMSA, and therefore this website, are family oriented. If you are not likely to see the image on broadcast television, maybe you should consider it's appropriateness here? Thanks!
Thanks and Start Uploading!
